The theme for 2026 is "Celebrating Muslim Contributions in Science, Arts, Medicine, and Architecture" highlights the enduring impact of Muslims. IHMM acknowledges historical achievements—from foundational advances in mathematics, astronomy, and medicine to innovations in engineering and urban design—while also honoring contemporary scientists, artists, healthcare professionals, and architects who continue to shape Manitoba and beyond. This theme invites reflection and events on the contributions of Muslims through past and present.

Treaty Acknowledgement
We acknowledge that we are gathered on Treaty 1 Territory and that Manitoba is located on the Treaty Territories and ancestral lands of the Anishinaabeg, Anishininewuk, Dakota Oyate, Denesuline, and Nehethowuk Nations. We acknowledge that Manitoba is located on the Homeland of the Red River Métis. We acknowledge that northern Manitoba includes lands that were and are the ancestral lands of the Inuit. We recognize and honour the enduring relationships Indigenous Nations have with this land. We respect the spirit and intent of Treaties and Treaty-making and remain committed to working in partnership with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples in the spirit of truth, reconciliation, and collaboration. As we gather to celebrate Islamic Heritage Month, we reflect on the shared values between Indigenous traditions and Islamic teachings — including respect for the land, community, justice, and the sacred duty to uphold peace and equity. In Islam, the earth is a trust from God (Amānah), and we are called to act as stewards (khalifah) of the land — a principle that resonates deeply with Indigenous worldviews. We honour the rich histories and contributions of Indigenous peoples, and we commit ourselves to learning from their wisdom, respecting their rights, and walking together on a path of mutual understanding and justice.
